The Parish of Cortegaça, in Ovar, promises to “act accordingly” against what it says is “the “gaudy” way in which the artist José Malhoa and his production team used the Parish Church” of that parish
At issue is the video clip for the song “Ela Queria Três” (Vidisco, 2022), which was made available this Tuesday on YouTube. The video presents scenes recorded inside and outside the place of worship, which led the parish to demur, saying that the recordings occurred in its absence: “The Parish of Cortegaça and its priest, responsible for the Church of Cortegaça, at no time received any request for permission for the filming of this video clip by Artist José Malhoa,” says the statement shared on the Facebook page
The parish adds that feels “indignation” for the use of the church for a “satirical and immoral use, in the service of an objective and purpose of personal scope, disrespecting an entire community that has in the Church of Cortegaça its reference and identity” and considers the act as “a desecration of the interior space of our Church”
Promising to “act accordingly”, the parish says it will “duly analyse this whole inconvenient situation, and find out the respective legal framework”
There is still no reaction from the singer.
