o largo. celebrates fifth anniversary with English and French editions
The two channels are available since this Friday
Born on 05 August 2017 and, since then, in constant evolution: the o largo. blog celebrates its fifth anniversary this Friday, marking a new phase of the site
Adopting the new slogan “a cultura num blogue” (the culture in a blog), the project, which also houses the channels Informadouro, Emprego & Empreendedorismo and the programming of the digital radio o largo. radio, has launched English and French editions: “It’s a way to take our content to more people”, describes Bruno Micael Fernandes, director of o largo.. The two new channels have been available since Friday morning.
The digital project made a first foray into providing content in English, French and Mirandese (albeit internally) in 2021. Fernandes explains that, since then, the team has been working to create a form of production and access to content that is agile: “When we decided to change platforms, in January 2022, one of the goals was to make o largo. a content blog accessible to all and we are making that path”, the responsible said.
At the moment, there are no exclusives: all news and contents are primarily available in Portuguese, and are later translated using an external service, which can be manually revised before publication and made available in English and French editions. In study is the availability of the contents in Mirandese. “We want to reach new markets and more people”, the person responsible for the editorial project sustained, who believes that this “is an added value for o largo.”
After having left the SAPO Blogs platform in December 2021, o largo. has developed its own system, having launched the current version of the blog in March 2022, after a troubled period: “It was a difficult start of the year, but we managed to overcome the problems with resilience and persistence of a small but extraordinary team. It is with them and with our readers that we will continue to build the site”, he said.
