Hackers attack Amnesty International Portugal website
Group will be the same that attacked the PCP’s digital platforms
The website of Amnesty International Portugal (AIPortugal) has been unavailable since Tuesday afternoon due to a cyber-attack. CNN Portugal broke the news.
The website has been down since at least 5.30pm, and is still unavailable at the time of publishing this article
The news channel reports that the group of hackers who attacked the AIPortugal website is the same one that has been attacking the digital platforms of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP), and cites a document in which the group says the attack is a response to the report the organisation released on human rights violations committed by Ukrainian soldiers. The group accuses Amnesty International of having put the victim and the criminal on “equal footing” and say they are ready to “neutralise AI in cyberspace”
In reaction to CNN Portugal, AIPortugal regrets the case and stresses that its position is against war: “There are reports made before, about nine, in which Russian war crimes and abuses were denounced. The difference is nine to one”, he underlines. In the meantime, the organisation has updated the report, giving context and more additional information
