October marks the return of the historical recreation to the village of Asseiceira: the “Ceyceyra Medieval” is back on October 1st and 2nd

Promoted by the Cultural, Recreational and Sports Association of Asseiceira, together with the local parish council and the municipality of Tomar, the event is already in its sixth edition and returns after the COVID-19 pandemic period. The organization stresses in a note sent to the media that the event will be a faithful reproduction of the time: “The houses of the old town and the surrounding area of the church lend themselves perfectly to the reconstruction, always mindful of historical accuracy, of the medieval times when that was a coveted waypoint for powerful neighbours”

In this edition, the theme of the fair will focus on the strengthening of the “autonomy of the place” by D. Dinis, “in a reference to the first letter of the poet king, of 1287, with the prohibition of the neighbouring counties to apply any taxes or customs to Ceyceyra”, says the organisation, adding that visitors will find “the reconstitution of a medieval village, full of life thanks to the extensive programme of entertainment that includes music, dance, street animation and recreations of historical moments, where there will be no shortage of figures of the time, including the Knights Templar, who also came to have sovereignty over the place”

Organisation seeks “artisans, craftsmen and merchants”

In addition to the entertainment programme, the event will feature “taverns and merchants’ tents”. This way, until August 20, the “artisans, craftsmen and merchants who wish to be present” at the Ceyceyra Medieval can register through the email [email protected] The rules of participation and the registration forms are available on the event’s page on the social network Facebook
